International Tractor Runs but will not move, no hydro?
My dad has a 1970 International Harvester 1206 ( I believe thats the number ) Hydrostat tractor.
He was using the brushhog on it and driving along and it stopped...........totally stopped driving. It still starts and runs fine but will not drive and the hydraulics will not work.
He was told by the local tractor guru's that it could be a flex plate and shaft but not sure thats the problem as we have limited experience with tractors. Just wanted to get an idea of things to check before paying for parts that will not fix it.
We have a manual and he is VERY mechanically inclined, just need some ideas of what all this could be? flex plate and shaft? Hydraulic pump? I dont know
UPDATE, SORRY FOR THE MODEL NUMBER ABOVE, THE ACTUAL MODEL NUMBER IS 1970 INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER 1026 ( I THINK THEY ALSO CALLED THEM FARMALL DURING THAT TIME FRAME )

Did you check the fluid level to see if it is low on hydro fluid? Before you start buying new parts try and narrow down the problem to what the tractor is not doing. Usually when the hydro lift won't work it is either low on fluid or the pump is not working. There are several parts to the pump so it could be a stuck valve or a blown seal or something like that. Go to ytmag.com/nboard and follow the links and you can ask all these tractor guys your question. They are very good and the info is free for the asking. The 8n board is for 8N Ford tractors but you can ask about any tractor on there and they will lead you by with each step on how to fix it or tell you what is wrong with it. Just make sure you give them all the info like the year model, model number and all the problems it is giving you.
